Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation-Review

Here are my thoughts on the Laura Mercier Foundation.  I think this is a great foundation for normal skin.  I have combo normal to oily skin so I'm always on the lookout for a foundation that absorbs oil and is long wearing.  For me this foundation is a very nice foundation for the first few hours and after that it turns into an oily mess.  Its a bit expensive at $42.00.  There are 12 shades.  I am in Sunny Beige.  It comes in a glass bottle and it comes with a pump which is very convenient and very sanitary.  It blends very nicely and consistency is a thin liquid.  I think this is a medium coverage foundation with a satin finish.  It does however take a long time to dry so it feels a little masky on the skin.  When it finally does dry it looks a little cakey in areas, which is why I don't think it would be good for dry skin.  This is not a long wearing foundation.  This foundation has kaolin clay, which is used in most beauty masks, it evens out skin tone and makes me skin look amazing when I take my makeup off which is like having a treatment on your face during the day.  So this foundation is great if you have normal skin, looking for a medium coverage and you are looking to improve the condition of your skin.

MAC PREP+PRIME Line Filler- RAVE

I am in love!! I love this product.  I have super oily shiny t zone and this really keeps my oily t zone OIL FREE and fills in pores and lines to make my skin look Flawless!.  Works awesome as a primer as well to keep my makeup staying put all day!  I haven't tried this all over the face yet but it definately works great to keep the shinies away!  I have tried tons of primers and nothing has even compared to this!!  If you have oily skin you know how important it is to keep that shine away.   Stay Matte!

Makeup Brush Care- Brush Cleansers

Having a good brush is very important in the application of makeup.  Whether its a higher end (better quality, higher price) brush or a low end (lower quality, less expensive) they can all be good depending on what the purpose is.  I have favorites in low and high end brushes and they serve different purposes.  Proper care of our brushes is also important for maintaining quality as well as the importance of santizing our brushes to eliminate infection or cross contamination when working with clients or on ourselves.  When working with our own brushes we don't always have time to deep clean them after every use and when switching from color to color we don't always have time to wait for them to dry in between.  I recommend deep cleaning your personal brushes every 1 to 2 weeks depending on use.  Here is how I recommend cleaning them.  I start off using a mild cleanser, I like J&J's Baby Shampoo, and pour some in my hand, get the bristles wet with lukewarm water(hot water will damage your brush) paying attention not to get too much water near the ferrule(metal component) and drag your bristles into the cleanser and set aside.  Once I have them all set aside I hold them  with the bristles under the facet and rinse them clean, lightly rubbing them on my hand or between my fingers assuring proper rinsing of the cleanser.  I then pat them dry between a towel.  To assure disinfecting I spray MAC's Brush Cleanser and reshape and lay flat on a dry clean towel and let them air dry.  Don't let them dry in a cup or brush holder, the moisture can get down into the ferrule and cause damage to your brush and make the ferrule loose.  When we don't have time to do a deep cleaning it's important if you want to switch colors or a quick sanitize try MAC's Brush Cleanser or Sonia Kashuk's Brush Cleanser (I recommend doing this every 1 to 2 days).  I like them both very much and both clean really well.  If you are just switching colors and need to clean brush right away I would recommend using the MAC because it dries in seconds.  If you are just cleansing after use and don't plan on using your brushes until the next day I would recommend SK's because it takes alot longer to dry works better for reshaping in my opinion.  One that I would not recommend is the Elf brush cleanser, I know it is inexpensive but it also doesn't get my brushes clean.  It might sanitize to an extent because of the alcohol contect but doesn't remove the makeup from my brushes.  Hope this was helpful.  Now go clean your brushes!! : )

COVER GIRL LIP PERFECTION LIPSTICK-RAVE REVIEW

So normally I'm not a fan of Cover Girl Products.  With the exception of a few items like Lashblast Mascara and a few select eyeshadows but I was watching a review on YouTube (PrissyandPink) and she just raved about them so I thought, you know I'm in need of a new summer lipstick so I'll pick one up.  I ended up getting 2 and my absolute favorite out of the two is TEMPTRESS.  To me it's the perfect Megan Fox Lipstick, I've been looking for a color exactly like this for a really long time.  I had a very similar color back in my teen that was my only higher end lipstick and I think it might have been an Este Lauder Color.  Anyway to me this is super soft, feels really light weight but the color payoff is phenominal.  It reminds me of a stain It just really stays put all day.. and I'm not joking.. I can even eat and the color doesn't budge.  It comes in 44 different colors and it claims to give a more hydrated smoother lips in 7 days.  I always wear lipstick and add a lipgloss and with this all I need to do is apply lipstick once and then reapply my lipgloss as needed.  I can't wait to try more colors, and lastly the packaging is really sleek, I really like it.

Beach BABE Workout with Tone It Up :)

This is a RAVE about TONE IT UP FITNESS!! Karena and Katrina are my two favorite Workout GURUS!!  They do a ton of fitness videos on YouTube and they are such great workouts. They give tons of tips about healthy and clean eating and they are just fun to watch. They do alot of Circuit exercises which makes the time just fly by and are so effective. I also bought the Jane Fonda Tone It Up Workout which I've been doing since January. But right now I have been doing 30 minutes of the Elliptical and then doing one of the Summer Workouts on YOUTUBE which are about 12 minutes long and it's giving me the BEST workout. I feel so toned and in the best shape of my life. I'm actually looking forward to being in a bikini this summer. Now all I need is a really good tan. Here's a link to one of my favorite workouts.

MAC BUERRE CREME STICK LINER- YES IT'S TRUE! I FOUND A DUPE!

I found a dupe for Buerre Creme Stick liner.  Not only a dupe that is going to save me money, but its an exact match..  I purchased the Buerre Lipliner today at MAC and low and behold I have a lipliner from Maybelline that couldn't be any closer to the same color.  See for yourself..  The Lipliner is called Plum.  On the left is Buerre and on the right is Maybelline..  I love it when I come across less expensive versions of things I love.  If only I would have known before I bought it.. ;)

MAC Class at the MAC PRO Store

Today was my first experience going to a MAC makeup class.  We arrived at the Pro Store around 11am.  The Pro Store is like a Candy Shoppe for Makeup Lovers.  I love the whole experience of going there.  I like playing with all the makeup, swiping and checking out all the different colors and textures and everything just looks colorful and artistic.  So we all go back into a small room with 3 different stations and there were about four people to each station not including the artist.  At each station they were teaching a different look.  At our first station Tyna (my friend) Got the first makeover.  The Artist showed how to do a Smokey eye with a Black Grease Stick it was really dark and used Print (gray shadow) to blend into the crease and Black Tied (sparkly black) to dry up the paint stick and under the lower lash line.  Then she used Melon Pigment over that and Vanilla Pigment to highlight under the brow.  It was a pretty intense look.  Nothing I would ever imagine Tyna wearing but it was useful to see the kind of technique to play around with some other colors.

At the next station I was up.  I had my lips done and the artist used BUERRE Creme Stick liner which is gorgeous,  (I completely fell in love with this color)  and she used a Brick Red color lipstick and Dazzleglass Lipgloss in Baby Sparks.  It was definately different than what I'm used to.  We all know I like a Nude Lip. ( But Lately I've been rockin Bright Pink Lips).  She also showed us how to put on Eyelashes, and by the way the #7 eyelashes are PERFECT they have the perfect curl, and the new mommy that was the model for the lashes it just perked her right up.  They were beautiful.  The artist also showed how to use the Strobe cream (which I love and want to get) it really made her glow and she applied a Neutral Lip and used Viva Glam V Lipstick.  She looked great.  and at the last station the artist showed us how to get glowy skin by using the strobe cream mixed with foundation and then used powder and bronzer for a glowy look.  It was really nice..  After that time for shopping. I purchased a 15 Pallette and refills of Naked Lunch, Nylon, and Quarry Eyeshadows; Studio Finish Concealer in NC 30; Buerre Cremestick Lipliner and a blush brush (not in the picture).  I also helped Tyna pick out some makeup and she bought tons of goodies.

ORGANIC COCONUT OIL Unrefined Virgin Coconut oil

I am addicted.  I have been eating a teaspoon of coconut oil 3 times a day.  According to Kevin Trudeau's NATURAL "CURES" REVEALED. it falls in that "miraculous" category.  If you take a tbsp in the morning and once in the afternoon for a month, you will have lower blood pressure, depression lifted , constipation gone, arthritis pain reduced or eliminated, cancer in remission, and a major side effect.  WEIGHT LOSS! (and so many more benefits)   He says if you take it for 30 days you will probably lose 10 lbs. , I'm naturally a skeptic when it comes to this sort of thing.  There is no miracle to weight loss.  My miracle is eating low carb and exercising.  But I think I'm going to try and see for myself.  I could use a jump start or a little help if it really is a miracle.  Its organic and has health benefits so I'll give it a shot.  I started on Sunday and its now Wednesday.  I'm going to give it a whole week before I give my input.  I'm also going to use on my skin as a moisturizer.  It's also suppose to clear up acne.  I love the taste, I just want to keep eating it.  It is fat, but it's not metabolized like a regular fat.  It's used by your liver as energy instead of circulating in your blood and storing as fat.  It also boosts your metabolism and gets rid of the bad stuff in your body like fungus and things such as candida (yeast) and viruses in your body.  It boosts your energy and because it's used as energy it promotes your other fat to be used as energy too.

After one week:   So I haven't noticed any weight loss benefits yet but I started a new workout routine so I'm not sure if that's changed some things with water weight from working on my muscles and being sore, your muscles retain water when they are repairing.  But I have noticed I've been going to the bathroom alot so that means its cleaning my system out and getting rid of the bad stuff.  I also notice it keeps my appetite in control (which is wonderful!).  I've noticed some breaking out on my chest area and face.  Hopefully that means my skin is getting rid of bad stuff.  I'm not enjoying the taste by itself anymore so I just mix a tsp in my coffee in the morning and then again either in coffee or warm water later in the day.  129.8 today.  I was at about 131 when I started but then again I've been doing a different workout routine.  I'll update in another week.

After 2 weeks.  I have noticed that the coconut oil curbs my appetite.  For weight loss I can't really say for sure because I'm on my last 5 lbs to lose so that is the hardest I have lost 2 lbs but I've also been on a new workout routine trying to build muscle and tone up....  My skin is looking great and feeling really moisturized.  I will continue to take it for all the health benefits and will update this if I notice anything else.

MAKEOVER BEFORE AND AFTER

This is Tyna, she is beautiful inside and out.  This is her before and after Photos.

She looks absolutely amazing!  And you could tell when we were finished she just seemed to be glowing.  That's my favorite part about doing makeup.  I love putting it on but just seeing how it makes people feel to look their best is the best part for me.

MY MUST HAVE MAKEUP BRUSHES

Ok so let me start by saying I think for me its really important to have a good quality brush when applying eyeshadow.  Your fingers are also great tools but I use them mostly for my foundation, I really haven't ever been one to use my fingers for applying my eyeshadow.  Now with that said my absolute favorite eye brushes are by MAC.  They are a little spendy but you can be assured that they are going to be great quality and will last a very long time if you take care of them properly.  So here are my Top Ten Must Haves:

MAC 217  Blending Brush
MAC 239 Flat Brush
MAC 219 Pencil Brush
MAC 263 Angled Brush
MAC 236 Angled Face Brush
Eco Tools Concealer brush
Sonya Kashuk Angled Liner Brush
Sonya Kashuk Beauty Sponge
Borghese Big Powder Brush
Eyelash curler (obviously not a brush but an important tool)

So there it is.  I hope this was somewhat helpful.  It seems like alot of brushes that I use everyday but they do what I need them to do and wouldn't want to do my makeup without them.   What are your favorite brushes?
